Government Affairs Committee
The purpose of the Government Affairs Committee is to review state, local and jurisdictional policies and key legislation that may impact the bioscience industry and then assist, advise, and communicate to the OBA Board of Directors and the OBA membership regarding these regulatory matters. In addition, this committee assists OBA in interacting with key local and regional legislative and regulatory officials on issues of mutual interest and concern to OBA and its members. Key guiding principles include: - Engaging on issues that impact OBA member companies.
- Remaining nonpartisan on issues, candidates and strategies.
- Driving all selected issues toward our vision and mission.
- Supporting sound budget and tax policies, which reinforce technology development and expansion of Oregon's knowledge-based economy.
Roles and responsibilities of committee: - Reviews governmental affairs that impact OBA members. The committee will inform the OBA executive committee and OBA board of directors on matters of concern regarding local, state and federal legislation, as well as regulatory policy.
- Reviews and/or establishes positions on various legislation and regulations will be interpreted within four levels. This OBA committee will recommend that OBA:
- Submits official position papers, policy statements and related actions to OBA Executive Committee, and in some cases, the OBA board.
- Assists in the development of positions, as well as the promotion of those positions to the board and membership.
